The Suitcase Kid, Jacqueline Wilson
This book tells the story of Andrea West's life after her parents have divorced. She has to leave her family home and decide which parent to live with permanently. Unable to choose where to live, Andrea moves between her mother and father's house each week. Since then, Andrea has to deal with various problems in his new life – step-siblings, parents who still fight, step-parents, illnesses, friendship, studies, and loneliness.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I felt it's a great book for both kids and adults. I liked the introduction part where the author mentioned that she does not wish to give any false hopes to child readers. That is why this story is so much different compared to any other children stories. In fact, I feel this book should be recommended to divorced parents so they will start to care and understand their children's feelings after their divorce. Besides, this book will be a good advice for divorced parents to think from the children's point of view instead of just focusing only on themselves. If I was a child reading this and was going through this in real life, I will find comfort and relief when I get to know that I wasn't the only one feeling lost in this situation.
