After the students return from their hometown, an announcement has made for the Totsuki Institute's annual Fall Classic's chosen contestants.
This volume focuses on the students' preparations for the competition and how they will compete against with each other with the given theme for the dish which they need to prepare on that day. Also, Polaris Dorm has a special visit from an unexpected guest. The unexpected guest not only challenges Soma for an informal competition but the surprising visit enables Soma to know more about his father's past.
I guess a lot of readers will be impressed with Soma's father (Joichiro Yukihira) as we get to know more about his past in this volume. After rated either three or four stars in all the previous volumes, this will be the first volume which I will rate 5 out of 5. I felt amazed with the mangaka's broad knowledge of culinary. In the beginning, I can see just only the mangaka's knowledge in cooking skills but from this volume, I realised his culinary knowledge is much wider which includes ingredients and gastronomy as well.
