The previous volume Death Note, Vol. 2: Confluence (Death Note #2), Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata ends with Light acts as a normal student when he realises the room has been placed with bugs and cameras while Shinigami tries to find each installed camera in the room.
This volume focuses on how Light still can find his own way to kill another criminal even there are 64 microphones and cameras hidden in his room. As Light thinks that he will win the game, someone comes to him and tells him that he is L. Should Light believes him? What will be his next move? If Light kills him, everyone will know that he is Kira and he is not hundred percent sure that the person is L. At the same time, Light needs to stay cautious of what he's going to say before he's revealing too much about his real identity. This is really an intense psychology game. The story ends with another huge question to be answered in the next volume, which is, another Kira appears? Someone else outside the world also using Death Note to kill people?
Complexity goes to a higher level again. Each volume increases the complexity of the story and it gets more interesting. I loved the part when L reveals himself to Light and also the tennis game. It makes me feel “Whoa” when I was reading it. I liked this volume compared to the previous one. A lot of twists and unexpected things happen in this story. What I loved most about this story is that the mangaka has added more complexity to an already complicated plot, which caused the story to have more intensity, thrills and a whole lot interesting. Also, the mangaka knew when is the right time to add more new details to the story and new mysterious characters. You just couldn't wait to read the next one.
